Anime Like Bad Habits
You come in expecting a novelty tie-in and leave weirdly wrecked by a pop single you've heard in every grocery store since 2021. That's the trick here: Rui Ikeda's character design and Naomi Izumida's direction take the vampire man and human woman at the center of it and play the whole thing as doomed romance instead of music-video decoration, so the chorus stops being an earworm and starts being a confession. CALF handling the animation is the tell. This is indie hand-drawn sensibility aimed at a chart topper, and the linework carries more grief than a four-minute runtime should be able to hold.
