This one grabs you by the collar in episode one and never really lets go of the plot's throat. Rai starts as an orphan with no context for himself, then gets handed an entire bloodline: the Tigeroids, a peaceful race whose peace ran out a long time ago. What makes it work is that the 500 lost tai chi symbols aren't a MacGuffin you forget about, they're a running scoreboard, and every episode is another tick in the Tigeroid or Dragonoid column. Suhn gets drawn with real care too, the character-symbol conjuring and the elemental blowouts are where the budget clearly went, and it shows in the linework during the big clashes. The cast serves the chase rather than the reverse, so if you want quiet interiority, wrong show. If you want 39 episodes of escalating stakes with a kid who didn't ask for any of this, you're home.
SYNOPSIS
