By this point the show has stopped asking whether you're impressed and just starts swinging. Everything here is still paying off the moment Zi Shou stood against Tian Kui and got nothing back but laughter from the gods in the sky, then died with the Immortal Phoenix armor in pieces. That humiliation is the engine of the whole franchise, and Wu Geng carrying it around in Ah Gou's borrowed body, with Bai Cai calling him husband, is why the fights land heavier than the choreography alone deserves. Season 4's back half is where the CG animation earns its keep, all weight and scale and mythic Shang dynasty carnage, because the emotional ledger has been open for four seasons.
