// WHY IT HITS

It drops you mid-escape and never bothers to explain itself, which is exactly the point. Scrooge tearing out of that research facility, psychic power ripping through the chasers sent to drag him back, is Guilty Crown's ugliest idea stated plainly: kids get remodeled into weapons and then blamed for being weapons. Then Carol asks him to reach into her body and pull the blade out with his right arm, and you realize you're watching the King's Mark before Shu ever fumbled his way into Inori, a decade early and with none of the pop-star packaging. It's a bundled promo for a PC game, so it ends the way promos end, abruptly and greedily, but Production I.G animate that Void draw like it costs something. Stick around for it because Carol asks to be used, and Scrooge does it anyway.

SYNOPSIS

In a near-future port city, a man called Scrooge breaks free from the laboratory that made him into something more than human. His body rewired through genetic experimentation, he possesses a dangerous psychic ability that lets him weaponize anything around him. Survival means staying ahead of the scientists who want him back. When Scrooge crosses paths with Carol, another escaped subject bearing her own modifications, he realizes he's not alone in this hunt. But their meeting attracts unwanted attention. Specialized operatives close in, tracking their psychic signatures with cold precision. Carol presents Scrooge with a grim choice: use the extraction power dormant in his right arm to pull a weapon directly from her body. It's an act that defies the natural order, turning one person's biology into another's tool. As the chasers tighten their net, Scrooge must decide what line he's willing to cross to keep them both alive. This is a tense stand against the system that created them, played out in the concrete shadows of a city that doesn't care who lives or dies.
